Zoom, Meet, and Teams Keyboard Shortcuts for Mac: The Cheat Sheet
The mute button has cost humanity more "sorry, you go ahead" moments than any other pixel. On a camera-heavy day, the handful of shortcuts below, camera, mic, hand, share, chat, are the difference between fumbling and flow. Here is the Mac cheat sheet for all three big meeting apps, plus the global hotkeys CamLoop adds on top.
Zoom shortcuts (Mac)
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Start / stop video | ⌘⇧V |
| Mute / unmute | ⌘⇧A |
| Push to talk while muted | Space (hold) |
| Raise / lower hand | ⌥Y |
| Start / stop screen share | ⌘⇧S |
| Show / hide chat | ⌘⇧H |
| Speaker / gallery view | ⌘⇧W |
Zoom is the only one of the three that lets you rebind shortcuts (Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts) and optionally make individual ones global.
Google Meet shortcuts (Mac)
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Camera on / off | ⌘E |
| Mute / unmute | ⌘D |
| Raise / lower hand | ⌃⌘H |
| Show / hide chat panel | ⌃⌘C |
| Show / hide participants | ⌃⌘P |
| Show all shortcuts | ⇧? |
Meet runs in the browser, so these work when the Meet tab is focused.
Microsoft Teams shortcuts (Mac)
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Camera on / off | ⌘⇧O |
| Mute / unmute | ⌘⇧M |
| Temporarily unmute | ⌥Space (hold) |
| Raise / lower hand | ⌘⇧K |
| Start screen share | ⌘⇧E |
| Leave / end call | ⌘⇧H |
| Accept audio call | ⌘⇧A |
| Decline call | ⌘⇧D |
| Show all shortcuts | ⌘. |
Careful with muscle memory across apps: ⌘⇧H opens the chat in Zoom and hangs up in Teams.
CamLoop hotkeys: the global ones
Everything above needs the meeting app focused. CamLoop's hotkeys are global: they work while you are in your notes, your browser, or anything else, because the moment you need to step away is rarely the moment Teams has focus. Defaults (fully customizable, Pro):
| Action | Default |
|---|---|
| Switch loop / live instantly | ⌃⌥L |
| Switch with pose alignment | ⌃⌥A |
| Start / stop recording a clip | ⌃⌥R |
| Open / close the menu | ⌃⌥M |
| Freeze the live camera | ⌃⌥F |
| Toggle the lag effect | ⌃⌥G |
| Toggle the low-bitrate effect | ⌃⌥B |
The first one is the whole product in a keystroke: your live feed swaps for a believable loop of you, and back, without the grid noticing. The step-away guides show it in context.
FAQ
What is push-to-talk in Zoom on a Mac? While muted, hold Space to talk and release to re-mute. Teams has the same idea with Option+Space.
How do I see all shortcuts in Teams or Meet? Teams: Cmd+Period. Meet: Shift+?. Zoom lists and rebinds them under Settings, Keyboard Shortcuts.
Can I customize the shortcuts? Zoom yes, including making some global. Meet and Teams: no custom shortcuts on Mac.
Do shortcuts work when the app is in the background? Mostly no; that is exactly what global hotkeys are for, and it is why CamLoop's step-away key works system-wide.
Shortcuts make the camera toggle fast; they do not make it graceful. When what you actually need is thirty seconds away without becoming the dark tile, that is the step-away playbook.
