Uninstall CamLoop completely

CamLoop is two pieces: the app in your Applications folder, and a macOS camera extension that publishes the virtual camera. The Trash only takes the app, so the right order is: remove the extension first, then the app. Two minutes, all of it.

The short way (direct download)

If you downloaded CamLoop from this site, the app removes everything itself:

1. Open CamLoop from the menu bar and open Settings.
2. Scroll to Uninstall and click Uninstall CamLoop…
3. Confirm, and enter your password if macOS asks. This removes the virtual camera, your recorded clips, the settings and the license on this Mac, then deletes the app.

Using Setapp?

Remove the extension first, then let Setapp take the app:

1. Open CamLoop > Settings, find the camera extension section, and click Remove camera extension. macOS asks for your password.
2. Remove CamLoop in the Setapp app as usual.

Already deleted the app? The camera that stays behind

If you trashed CamLoop first, its camera can keep appearing in Zoom or Meet. That is a macOS rule, not a leftover file: only the app that installed a system extension can ask macOS to remove it, and with System Integrity Protection on there is no manual command that does it. Restarting does not clear it either.

The fix is quick:

1. Download CamLoop again (or reinstall it from Setapp) and launch it once.
2. Open Settings and click Uninstall CamLoop… (or Remove camera extension on Setapp).
3. Done. The camera disappears from every picker.

FAQ

Is the leftover extension doing anything? No. It sits idle unless a meeting app selects the CamLoop camera, it never records audio, and nothing ever leaves your Mac.

Why can't I delete the extension by hand? macOS only lets the app that installed a system extension ask for its removal, and with System Integrity Protection on there is no terminal command that does it. You can switch it off under System Settings > General > Login Items & Extensions > Camera Extensions, but the entry itself only goes away through the app.

Does deleting the app delete my clips? No. Trashing the app leaves your clips in a shared container. The in-app Uninstall CamLoop button removes the clips, the settings and the license too.
